We have this dreamy vision of summer sunshine with days spent by the lake. But what that idyllic vision doesn’t consider: how HOT these summer days can be!
There’s nothing quite like a refreshing summer treat to help us beat the heat. But some of your favorite summer treats have some not-so-healthy ingredients… Think hidden sugars, artificial flavors, chemicals, and dyes.
That’s why I want to share some of my favorite things that help me stay refreshed, hydrated, and cool this summer. Check them out!
T2 Matcha Flask : While this bottle is made for Matcha, why limit yourself? I’ve been known to add my favorite iced tea to add some flavor to it! This stainless steel flask is not only toxin-free, but it’s the perfect size for on-the-go cold drinks – it even fits in my car’s cup holder!
Why I love it: The flask has an attached whisk on the lid, allowing you to shake it up quicker than you can say, “Cool cool summer.”
How I use it: I add my favorite Pique green tea powder to cold water, a few ice cubes, a couple of fresh mint leaves, and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Shake it up and enjoy!
Pique Green Tea Sampler: I love tea. I love hot tea in the winter and iced tea in the summer. Many conventional pre-made teas from the grocery store have tons of added sugar. If you’re like me, you’re trying to reduce these added sugars as much as possible.
Why I love Pique Tea: This tea is organic and comes packaged with individual dissolvable crystallized powder packets. That means there’s no prep or brewing required. Green tea is great for your body as it is full of antioxidants and a compound called EGCG, which helps you balance blood sugar and insulin levels.
How I use it: I keep these individual packets easily accessible at home and in the office for a quick, refreshing pick-me-up. I’ve been adding it to my T2 Flask, but it stirs well too!
Poppi: If you want to take a canned drink to the next level, this is it! This is what I call a “functional drink”. Delicious, refreshing and actually promotes a healthy gut. If you have kids, you’ll want to hide these because they will go fast and they may steal your favorite flavor.
Why I love Poppi: I love a fun summer drink, especially if it also promotes gut health. Poppi is an apple cider vinegar-based drink, full of polyphenols and prebiotics. They have perfected the flavors so that the ACV isn’t overpowering.
Popsicle Mold: What says summer like a cold popsicle on a hot day?! These molds are perfect for your family to enjoy treats all together. Does everyone have a different favorite flavor? No problem! You can add the same base liquid and personalize it by adding each family member’s favorite fruit flavors to a mold.
Why I love these molds: This is the epitome of summer, without getting all the added sugar and chemicals like other popsicles. I’m not much of a DIYer, but these make it way too easy to not be.
Try my favorite 4-ingredient recipe for a gluten-free and dairy-free sweet refreshing treat.
- 3 cups of frozen mangos
- 1 can full-fat coconut milk
- 1 tbsp of local honey
- ½ cup of unsweetened coconut flakes
Here’s how you make it:
- Blend mangoes in a blender until crumbly
- Add coconut milk and honey. Blend until smooth.
- Add coconut flakes and pulse the blender until mixed but still flakey
- Pour the mixture into the mold, leaving ¼ inch of space allowing to expand.
- Freeze for a minimum of 6 hours and enjoy!
